SLS Freestyle Friday January 15th Winner: Koonce!

This past Friday, we held our second Freestyle Friday and local rappers did not disappoint! 

We were so impressed by the talent and had five solid submissions from DMV rappers.

With close competition, the artist with the most votes was Koonce! 

Based in PG County, Maryland, Koonce grew up performing for his friends and family, while spending time in his local choir. Since 4th grade, Koonce knew he wanted to pursue a career in music. In 2019, he released “Lavender Lane.” Most recently, Koonce has collaborated with other up and coming DMV artists like Cam London and Denzel Oaks. With a distinct style utilizing smooth beats and melodic verses, he could be compared to a young J Cole. Keep and eye out for Koonce and his upcoming project LEAP!

Koonce popped by SLS this week and picked up some gifts and his cash prize from SLS ambassador, Amala!
